Happy New Year!! 2020 has already begun and I wanted to share my booklist with you all for the year. These books are ones that will enrich the soul, help to prioritize my life, and help to provide ways to brand my businesses properly.
I’m sure you have heard, “Reading is Fundamental,” in which it is. I believe reading can expand your vocabulary and take you places where you’ve never thought you could go mentally. Nowadays technology is taking over and people are rapidly choosing to put down the books and pick up their phone to scroll through their social media. Yes, sometimes social media can be informative, but we should go beyond just pictures and dive deep into words. It is surprising sometimes, to hear that most people don’t actually read books anymore, like it is a thing in the past. After a person has finished schooling, they should continue to advance their knowledge through reading.
Last year, I didn’t get a chance to read as much as I wanted to due to my crazy schedule. This year however, I am actually enforcing my reading schedule within my life. The plan is to double this list the following year and keep the ball rolling. Here is the issue, most times I get so caught up in watching tv and honestly scrolling through my social media. But by cutting back on those things and using that time to actually improve myself is all that matters. I am actually pretty excited to get started on this new reading list and hope you will join me.
There is definitely more than one way to read a book. There are eBooks, audio books, and physical books. My favorite among those three is a physical book. There is just something about opening up a book on a rainy or cloudy day, in my onesie, just to read in my down time that I love. Allotting this quiet down time for me is essential to my sanity. You need those moments alone to unwind and relax or even let your mind escape to a different world.
A book is a gift you can open again and again

Most of these books can be purchased from Amazon, but may be available at your local book store. One ecommerce bookstore I love to visit virtually is Mahogany Books but you can also find socially more bookstores with this hashtag #blackbookstores. Just thinking about them makes me excited! I can’t wait to buy more for next year!
Of course, the choice is yours on whether or not you plan to read more this year. I on the other hand, will make sure I follow through with this huge goal of mine. It is important to me to increase my knowledge and to keep my mind wanting more.
Show your children; if you have any, that you can do more than just plant your face onto your phone for hours. Instead of taking your phone to the restroom with you, take a book in there. Let reading be the new trend for this year and beyond.
